Ruokolahti Local History Museum is one of the nature and cultural sites in the Saimaa Geopark. The museum is located on Ruokolahti Church Hill and is maintained by the Ruokolahti Society. The Ruokolahti Parish Museum, originally established as a public granary in 1955, now houses an impressive collection of approximately 3,000 artifacts within its three-story structure. Built in 1861, the museum is particularly notable for its special wooden decorations. Starting at the museum, the two-kilometer-long history path offers an interesting journey through local history. Equipped with QR codes at various historical sites, visitors can access detailed information about landmarks such as the grave of Simo Häyhä, a monument commemorating the largest air battle of the Winter War, and a belfry dating back to 1752. This trail is free to explore at any time, requiring only a device capable of reading QR codes. Additionally, the Eukkojen Polku, or “Eukko Trail,” meanders through the scenic terrain of Ruokolahti church hill. This three-kilometer trail highlights the rich history and unique geological formations of the area, with 18 informative signposts along the way. Both trails begin and end at the parish museum, making it a perfect starting point for discovering the region's heritage. The admission fee is 4 € for adults. Children under 12 years old are free. Guided tours for groups are 60 € for up to 20 people. For more than 20 people, the fee is 70 €. During the summer, the museum has a small shop for selling products.
