Shepherds’ Holiday in Putkisalo Manor close to the Linnansaari National Park in Lake Saimaa region

Located in Rantasalmi, on the shores of the pure Lake Saimaa and close to the Linnansaari National Park, Putkisalo Manor is a vibrant sheep farm offering a unique experience for those who want to experience what it is like to be responsible for the daily care of sheep or just enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside. On a Shepherds' Holiday you can book yourself a unique traditional cottage (Hiekon Torppa) with a history dating back to the 1500s. Imagine yourself living a time without comforts, enjoying the most traditional cottage experience when there is no running water and all the everyday things can be done without haste. Enjoy your stay amidst relaxing nature and beautiful landscapes, accompanied by sheep whose daily needs and water supply you can take care of (this can also be left to the owner of the farm). Dogs are also welcome, but must be kept on a lead. Hiekon Torppa is situated on 5 hectares of traditional farmland.The pasture borders the shore of Lake Saimaa and is only a few kilometres by water from the Linnansaari National Park. Torppa has a bedroom for three people and a room with a bed, a kitchen-living room, a baking oven, electricity, a fridge-freezer and a gas stove. There is a charming barbecue area in the courtyard and firewood can be found in the yard. No running water, drinking water is brought to the cottage and more can be fetched from the manor. Here you can experience the old traditional "ulkohuussi" as we say in Finnish, which is a traditional Finnish latrine, a separate outbuilding where you go to take care of your daily needs. The lakeside sauna on the shores of Lake Saimaa Haukivesi is open daily until 15:00. The distance to the sauna is about 800 meters. In addition, guests have access to a private beach and pier. Minimum rental period 3 nights. Linen booked separately. You can either buy the final cleaning or clean the accommodation yourself.
